To respond to the needs of this project, decisions were made based on the space required by active occupants and the equipment that would be place inside the space. The room divider (based on Kwik-Wall 2000 series) is an important actor in this project as it could help to re-partition the space as desired between the large classroom and the fitness area. The issue of sound is also considered and the fitness area is place at the front of the building, leaving the east wall mostly to the smaller, quieter classroom.
1. Fitness Equipment Space:
This space is spacious to accommodate a maximum number of machines. it split in half along the axis of entrance into a cardio area on the right and a strength exercise area on the left. The left wall is completely covered by a continuous mirror in the fitness area.
2. Classroom Spaces:
This room os large enough to fit twelve guest plus the instructor if need be. It is designed to provide about two feet of space between the tip of their fingers with arms fully stretched.
The left wall in this design would support the 120" projection screen but the orientation can be changed to look to the south wall.
Both restrooms are kept. One is additionally fitted with a tentative 4'x 4' shower. Both could potentially hold narrow lockers for guests.
4. Small Utility Space:
The utility space is built along the support columns and provides enough space to store supplies.
5. Small Office For Manager:
The manager's booth is located between the fitness area an the smaller room for reservations. It is optionally defined by two glass curtain walls on each side, allowing the manager to observe the fitness area and reservation space.
6. Small Classroom/Reservation space:
This is a small area that can be used for purposes. Because of the size restrictions, it is locate adjacent to the neighboring offices instead of the yoga room with the expectation that it would be quieter than the fitness room.
