Just need some creative help with my living room. It's a rarely-used room, but it's the first thing people see when they enter the house and I want it to have some impact. The most frequent use of the room is when I am hosting family get-togethers so I would like it to have plenty of seating options (formal and informal). I will need ideas on where to buy the design items, how much they will cost, etc.
I'm not in love with the brick facing around the fireplace but don't know how pricey it would be to get rid of it, so I'm happy just to work around it. Also, the front door opens directly into the living room and it would be nice to create sort of a foyer-feel to the space. I love natural light in my house so curtains are OK as an accent, but they would likely never be closed. I'd like to have a little bit of "pop" (i.e., color) in the design, but the rest of the house is fairly standard design and muted colors, so it still has to blend in with that. I will also need to have some standalone lighting since there is no overhead lighting in the room.
Since this room is rarely used, I'm definitely looking for affordability, while still having something that creates a good first impression.
